This patient of Jae Pak M.D. had lost the hair around his temples and wanted to redefine his hairline. With an FUE hair transplant, he was able to create a strong, natural-looking hairline.

Follicular Unit Excision (FUE) hair transplant surgery is the preferred method for many who like to wear their hair short or buzzed and do not want to have a linear scar on the back of their scalp.

Both the FUE and FUT methods refer to how the hair is removed from the donor area. The hair is transplanted the same way in the recipient area with both methods. However, with FUE, the hair is removed individually as it is cored out similarly to an apple core. This will leave tiny pinprick incision scars that are barely detectable versus a linear scar associated with the FUT method.

When you arrive at Jae Pak MD Medical on the morning of your procedure, Dr. Pak will review your goals and make sure both of you are in agreement as to the shape of the hairline before he begins the procedure.

For FUE, the sides and back of the scalp need to be shaved to a zero guard. Many patients opt to shave the entire scalp but you do have the option to keep your hair longer on top of the scalp. Dr. Pak will draw for you where the hair will be added before the procedure begins.

After the Surgery

After the procedure you will be able to see the outline of the new hairline. There is some redness and swelling so you cannot forecast the exact final result, but you will have a good idea regarding the shape of the final outcome.
