Creating a full beard can sometimes be a two-step surgery process. Only so many grafts can safely be implanted into the scalp or face at one time without causing too much trauma to the skin. With hair transplants, it is a mistake to assume that more grafts are always better.

Many doctors make the mistake of implanting too many grafts at one time and too close together. This can cause the grafts to die and be wasted, or cause permanent damage to the skin called “cobblestoning”.
